The past weeks have been a mad scramble for me. I finally came to a decision on what bike to run for 2005 and have opted for a Kawasaki ZX-10R. I picked the machine up from Motosport Hillsboro and started ordering the parts needed to race prep it a week before Daytona. I managed to get some work started on it and then took off for 10 day to go to the St. Louis Supercross and Daytona. Since I got back I've been working my regular job and prepping the 10. I finished the majority of the work last Sunday night (Mar 20th). It was good timing as Cascade Tracktime, which I instruct for, had it's first track days on Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 21-22) I used the track time to learn to ride the ZX-10R and to help Cascade Tracktime out as one of thier instructors. We dodged a weather bullet for the 2 days and had decent weather both days. I feel like the ZX-10 is working pretty good already but I have rearsets and a Penske shock ready to go onto the bike now. In addition to these parts I'll have the bike painted and a few other small tweaks completed on it and I'll be ready for this years racing to start!

2005 bike announced: It's the ZX-10R

After months of being up in the air, I finally made what has been a very difficult decision for me this year. Deciding to race either the new 2005 ZX-6RR or jump to the open class this year has been driving me nuts. But I'm relieved and excited to announce that I have decided to campaign a 2005 ZX-10R this year!

I'd like to thank Jason, Wayne, and Ed at Motosport Hillsboro for all the support and help they've given me thus far. With thier help, this year should be extremely exciting. It looks like a lot of fast guys will be running open bikes this year and I plan on being right up with them from the beginning. I pick up the bike tonight and have already got parts on order for the machine and even though I've got a diminishing amount of time before racing starts, everything should be in place to start the year off right for 2005!

'05 ZX-6RR

Kawasaki has released pictures and some specs of thier '05 ZX-6RR and I have to say this thing looks SWEET!

I've been playing around in Photoshop and cleaned up the pic above. Looks nice!
The bike looks really great w/ the full green bodywork. Better than the 636 below w/ the black lowers.

2005 ZX-6RR announced

It looks like Kawasaki is not going to rest this year and let the revisions they made to the ZX-6RR in 2004 go for another year. They have release pics and early info on the 2005 replacement for both the ZX-6RR and ZX-6R.

The special features for the ZX-6RR are pretty impressive for a 600cc machine!
2wf.com has a good preview of the machine HERE.

I'm waiting to see the '05 R6 but I gotta tell ya, this bike is looking pretty sweet!

New Sponsor Announcments

Day One Racing has been very fortunate to sign on 2 new sponsors.

Kelly's Olympian, a local bar and eatery located in downtown Portland, and Pizza Schmizza, a NW Pizza Chain with locations all over Portland, have both signed on to support Day One Racing.

Look for upcoming announcements about how you can help support these sponsors and Day One Racing at the same time.
